Your Club Needs You! We need Team Managers, Officials and Coaches!

As a club, we are run completely on volunteers, and that pot of volunteers is getting smaller and smaller and we are needing to increase our numbers.

Where we are desperately short,  is officiating and team management and if we don’t increase our numbers this will have an impact on the next Track and Field season!

Sadly, this year we have been at near breaking point at league matches, with in many cases, our senior and masters athletes having to travel to the Youth Development Leagues to cover officiating. If we don’t have more parent/carers coming forward and taking up roles over the coming months, the committee may take the decision to not enter a Burton AC team in the Youth Development Leagues (Y6-Y13).

For team management, we do have a small number of amazing team managers that we can arrange for you to spend time with to learn about the role. The team manager is responsible for contacting athlete parents/carers to find out if they are available and pulling a team together, then on the day you would be the contact for the team for queries etc.

We are not limited to one team manager per age-group,  people can work together and share the role. It would also be amazing if we could get a boys and girls team manager for each age-group and lighten the load for everyone.

Officials are also desperately needed! If we don’t have any officials, we cannot enter teams, or if we don’t have enough qualified officials, it means huge number of points lost at each match!  The more qualified officials attend the less volunteers have to do. Many hands make light work 😊

We are always on the lookout for more coaches. You don’t need experience, just initially an extra pair of eyes, and then you can choose to decide whether you want to complete any courses or qualifications.
