Important Notice

Burton Ac is a competitive Club and enters teams in track & field leagues;  cross country leagues and championships; in road relays. If therefore your child is invited to join us, membership will be on the understanding that your child will compete regularly for the Club irrespective of their ability and subject to fitness. We do not coach juniors to simply keep fit or to get fit in order to compete in other sports to the total exclusion of Burton ac  fixtures.

The Club’s team managers and coaches will always encourage and build the confidence of juniors to compete, but parents are asked to help by also encouraging their child to enter races for Burton Ac. Failure to compete may result in membership being withdrawn and their place offered to a junior on the waiting list.

Track & field teams are mainly picked on ability, but there are usually places for other juniors, whilst over cross country, there is no limit to the number of juniors who can enter races.

Whilst team managers will contact juniors as race/Match days approach to try to turn out full teams, parents can see dates and venues of the many races and contact details of team managers on our website so please help the team manager by advising of your child’s availability. Or ask your child’s coach for information.

Our team managers and coaches are volunteers and it is disheartening and unfair to them when juniors do not compete when time and effort has been spent on training/coaching. It is also unfair on those juniors who do complete, but then do not get adequate backup from other juniors.
