Maisie Trueman was joined by Finley Pidcock who was running his first track race and making his Burton debut. With the pacemaker starting fast, Pidcock was in the top 3 with Trueman in the middle of the pack. After 800 metres, Pidcock moved into the lead and came home to win in 4.32.94. Trueman picked up the pace on her last lap and came home in a seasons best of 4.43.37. Millie and Charlotte Nettleton were next to race and started well on pace for new bests. Unfortunately Charlotte suffered from knee problems and came home in 5.13.07 and Millie finished in 5.24.41. Ewan Withnall and Henry Hemmings were the last to race, with Hemmnigs making his 1500 metres debut. Withnall started in a group of 3 tracking the pace maker while Hemmings was at the back of the pack. Withnalll moved into the lead after 800 metres chased by two older Stoke Athletes. He picked up the pace on the last lap to open a gap and come home in 4.01.62 for a new best and club record. Hemmings started to move through the field on the final lap and came home with a debut time of 4.13.05. With more experience of running the longer distance he will improve further. Withnall’s time moved him to the top of the under 15 rankings and puts him 10th on the all time list. This was his last 1500 of the season and he will run the 3K in his final race of the season at the Midland championships. He is now ranked number 1 in the under 15 800 metres, 1500 metres and the mile.
