The U17s and U20 athletes finished their Youth Development League bid with a win at Shobnall. The final result saw Burton win by over 140 points, an amazing season by the athletes and team managers Stefan Kugelmann and Trevor Swindlehurst.
Last event of the day was the mixed 400 metre relay and a strong team of under 20s, Trueman, Bowley and Kugelmann with u17 McCafferty led from the start to win in a new club record of 4.09.4. Burtons strength in depth showed as this meant they won all 5 relays that took place!
Lower YDL – 23rd June
Burton’s young athletes travelled to Grantham, knowing a win in the last match by 30 points would move the team to the top of the league. After the points were counted a clear win for Burton moving them clear of Amber Valley. Now they head for a paper match, where past performance in the league will be placed in a virtual match to see who gains promotion. A great effort from all the team and the team managers, Jeremy Tutt and Dave Powell!
Midland Counties Senior League – 15th June
Burton’s Senior athletes travelled to Nuneaton for the Midlands League technical match, with all divisions competing in parallel at one location. A clash with the Mason’s trophy meant many talented under 17s were unavailable. When the results were counted Burton won their division and closed the gap on Stoke and hope with 2 home matches to come they can establish a lead!
Mason Trophy in Stoke – 15th June
Twenty Burton Athletes travelled to Stoke for the Masons trophy to represent Staffordshire or Derbyshire Schools in 25 events, with amazing performances and medals won.

County Schools – 8th June
The schools county schools championships saw many members participating, aiming for personal bests. The target for the under 15s and under 17s was a top two finish to qualify for the Mason’s Trophy and all three age groups aiming for English Schools Standards and selection for the English Schools Championships in June.
Burton Masters Team – 5th June
Burtons masters athletes travelled to Sutton Coldfield for the third match of the season. It was another close match with Burton 4th in the men and women’s scoring. The Men were only 9 behind 2nd and if not for an unfortunate late injury they could have taken second. Overall Cannock and Staffs have a big lead in the league then its very tight. Burton are level on match points with Stoke but have more league points so are second. a match point ahead of Birchfield and Telford. The last league match is at Shobnall on the 10th July.
