Great Performances at Club Champs and Open Meets
Club Championships
The club Championships held over 2 evening sessions saw athletes achieve 157 personal best performances and 8 club records. Kaiden Ramsey and Isabelle Fellows gained the required standards for the English Schools National Championships and will await selection later in the year, with a number of other athletes also very close to the standards. Open Meetings
It has been a busy start to the Track and Field Season with athletes looking for competition all over the UK.
Alice Tyler at Liverpool ran 27.71 in the 200 and ran in the 400 62.46 at Bury. Zara Acton threw the discus 36.54 at Hendon.
Nuneaton saw a lot of athletes in action on 6th April. Frustration for the sprinters as after racing into a head wind at the club championships in the 100 metres it was a headwind again at Nuneaton. Rob Cawson M65 15.91, Tristram Bolton 12.92, Isla Swindlehurst 13.16. Similar problems in the 200 metres Rosie Tyler 27.71, Poppy and Ava Howard were in action in the throws Poppy 7.75 shot, 28.70 hammer, 14,73 discus, Ava 5.69 shot, 27.06 hammer. 12.89 discus. In the shot Rob Cawson m65 threw 7.62 and a new w50 record for Nicola Long with 7.19.
At Sheffield Amber Rose Powell ran a 13.49 and 13.62 in the 100 metres.
Sprinters at Loughborough for the 100s a mainly legal following wind. 100 metres saw M65. Rob Cawson 14.87 U15 Harry Smethurst 13.41, Abigail Redpath 13.30, Jasmine Upton 13.56 U20 Blayn Ganley 11.53, u13 Annabelle Sturt 13.8.
Although gusting winds in the Hurdles and 150m and 200m frustratingly had most races over the legal limit. U15 75 metres hurdles Abigail Redpath 13.00 200 metres , Alice Tyler 28.17, Rosie Tyler 25.84, Isla Swindlehurst 25.90, 150m Smethurst 30.38. 300m Rosie Tyler 41.9 400m Alice Tyler 65.56.
Isla Fletcher in u11 600 metres 2.15.56. 5.52 for Upton in the long jump. Ben Acton 41.92 in the discus. Javelin Oliver Scattergood threw 41.53 and Isla Rogers 33.50. Improved club record for Rob Cawson 8.20 in m65 5kg shot and in 3 months in the m70s he will throw a 4kg shot.
Birchfield a great run from Sam Roberts who finished in 37.83 under the English schools entry standard for junior boys and is 7th in the rankings. Isabelle Smith under 20 in the 100 metres ran 12.56 for a club record and in the same race a 12.99 for U17 Freya Manton. Laura Allen w35 in the hammer threw 23.89 and in the discus 18.97.
While in the Derby DADA another new pb and club record for W50 Nicola Long with 32.78 in the 3KG hammer. A better wind for the sprinters in the 100 metres Blayn Ganley 11.43, Anthony Humphries 11.7, Deonte Frank 11.96, Tristram Bolton 12.28 and Rob Cawson 14.87. 200 metres saw Sam Roberts run 23.95 to go 14th in u15 rankings. Humphries 24.88, Frank 25.45, Kieran Janes 25.45. U15 Jacob Dutton ran his first mile in 5.07.63.
The first Staffordshire open at Burton of the season saw 14 new personal bests. One was in the under 13 event long jump, with Amelia Kolodziej jumping furthest with 4.22, Riccardo Ferrero 3.67, Luke Cato 3.51, Isabel Thompson 3.23 and Evie Duncan 3.14. Pool 2 saw Joe Ward win with a 6.05 pb, Jack Poxon 5.79, Jasmin Upton 4.75, Lottie Woodward 4.67 Ava Hudson 4.21and James Rose 3.73. High Jump saw Oscar Fuller 1.65, Elizabeth Fry 1.50 and James Rose 1.35. Pool 2 saw a win for Betsy Wilton 1.41, Lucas Bowman 1.10, Isabel Thompson 1.05 and Evie Deakin 0.95. Shot had a close battle Rob Cawson 8.20, John Hendon 7.98 and Lucas Bowman 5.51. In the other pool Zara Acton won with 12.06, Fuller 9.79, Fry 9.20, Poppy Howard 7.12, Pat Higgins 6.04, Ava Howard 5.76, Jill Lamb 4.87.
A pb in the Hammer for Isabelle Gould with 43.85 as she gets nearer to the English Schools entry standard. 37.27 for Hannah Smith, 32.64 Nicola Long, 31.17 Poppy Howard, 31.07 Rachel Burke, 26.02 Laura Allen 25.19 Ava Howard 21.65 Higgins 18.70 Lamb. Big field in the Javelin Oliver Scattergood throwing a PB with 44.44, Zachary Wilkes 43.36, Isabelle Fellows 39.17, Freya Kirby 30.72, Holly Wilson 27.45, Hendon 26,41, Elizabeth Jenkinson 25.93, Ava Cato 23.59, Luke Cato 20.94, Annette Webster 19.46, Ferrero 13.51.
