Kaiden in Debut UK Indoor Championships
A big weekend for Burton Athletics Kaiden Ramsay as he made his debut at the British Senior Indoors championships in the Long Jump at Birmingham.
Ramsay’s performances got him Invited to take part in the championships alongside the best Long Jumpers in the country. The standard of the competition was evident with top 3 in the UK rankings this year all competing, aiming for international selection. Number 1 in the rankings is Jacob Fincham-Dukes the 2024 British champion, who followed that with taking 4th in the European championships and then 5th at the Olympics.
With the event live on the BBC red button, Ramsay lined up to be introduced to the crowd.
He showed no sign of the pressure of competing at this level, when he opened with a 6.83 jump to go 4th in the first round.
He then improved to 6.93 in the second round and went on to record a further 4 legal jumps. His 6.93 jump was his second best indoors performance and showed how well deserved his selection for the event.
Supporting him at the event was his coach, Keith Morant, who has been coaching Kaiden for 5 years. Morant said he was ‘Proud to be alongside Kaiden on his inaugural British Indoor Championships in Birmingham. Kaiden is an amazing athlete whose demeanor, attitude and dedication is second to none.
Fincham-Dukes won the competition with his first jump before getting injured on his second attempt.
